Character

Nourishing. Restorative. Warming.

Hidden Amber is deeply nourishing, warming and sustaining. It is grounding, settling and restorative. Ideal if you are feeling exhausted, frail, spent or weak - it is the chicken soup’ of our teas. Used as a weight-loss tea in China as it suppresses the appetite.

Origin Hidden Amber is an organic, wild-harvested cooked (shou) puerh produced by a fairtrade tea cooperative in Yunnan, Southern China. Leaves are plucked from wild tea trees standing over 20 feet tall in old-growth forests and processed by hand.
Quantity 50g (28p per serving)

Hidden Amber should be washed’ i.e. the first infusion should be discarded as this will ‘open’ the tea and allow the leaves to release their full flavour for 6+ infusions.

The traditional way to make living tea is to use a small pot with a generous amount of leaves. The leaves are then used for multiple, short infusions. Living tea made this way brings out all of its taste, vibrancy and complexity.

Qi, Yang and Blood Tonic; Warms the Middle and Lower Jiao. Suggested for use as a gentle Qi and Blood tonic where Qi, Blood or Yang Deficiency are evident.

We named this tea ‘Hidden Amber’ because of its tangible qualities of nourishing, warming and tonifying Qi deep in the centre of the body. Powdered amber - hupo’ in Chinese Medicine - is used in decoctions for its settling and sedative nature and this is consistent with the nature of this tea.

Nature Neutral - Warm
Movement Gathering to Middle & Lower Jiao
